The Red Sox acquired former first-round pick Andrew Miller from the Florida Marlins

On Friday Night the The Red Sox acquired former first-round pick & young Lefty Andrew Miller from the Florida Marlins for another Young Lefty Dustin Richardson. Andrew Miller A Draft bust was one time a highly touted Pitcher from University of North Carolina along with Current Redsox Setup man & Current Team mate again Daniel Bard!
I for 1 like this Trade! Andrew Miller is not a 30 year old pitcher like bryan bullington, the Kid is 25 & Still young! theres Still a Chance to make something happen! Could the redsox new Pitching coach Curt Young make somthing out of him? the answer is yes! For the record i think hes done as a Starting Pitcher but i Do think Curt Young Could make Him in to a Good lefty specialist! this should be the 1st test of many tests ahead for Curt.
I think Andrew Miller was Rushed! i think Both Tigers & Marlins Rushed him just like the Braves & rangers did with Jarrod saltalamacchia! so it should be Interesting how these 2 do with sox! hopefully both players could help out the sox in the future.

Red Sox Eyeing John Buck & Jayson Werth! plus my Projected Redsox lineup!

Hey guys it craig & its been a long time since i last did a Blog, Its great to be Back! But any ways on to my blog!

Its that time again! Its Baseball Hot Stove Season & one of my favorite times of the year! So What are This Years Red Hot Red Sox Rumors? Jayson Werth,Carl Crawford & John Buck!
But 1st off Lets start off with the status of V-Mart & Adrian Beltre! im 100% Convinced that Vmart will not be back in Boston! The Tigers are going Hard for this guy and they are willing to give him a 4-5 year Deal! As for Beltre i can still see him Back in boston but just 49%! He'll Get 3-4 year deal! My theroy is he'll end up back in Boston! While we try to work out a Deal with Werth i think Theo Will also talk to Boras About Beltre! What made me think about this Theroy? in 2006 When the Redsox Won the Dice K Sweepstakes they had 3o days to get a deal Done! well durning that time i think Theo & Boras were also talking to About JD Drew and had a plan to get both players Deals Done! Which it Did Happen! so i wouldnt be shocked if the redsox get both deals done with Werth & Beltre.
Back to Vmart & who will be his Replacement?
with Vmart likely gone as redsox Catcher. The Redsox are Looking at John Buck as there next catcher! he had a Batting Avg of .281 with 20 home runs! he was also named a 2010 AL Allstar! plus his D is not that bad so its worth a shot! Chances are Him & salty will share the role a redsox Catcher if signed! but dont Rule out a Return of the captin if the sox cant work out a Deal with Buck or Vmart! other Catchers that the redosx are looking at! Gerald Laird,Rod Barajas & Aj Pierzynski.
here is my Projected Redsox Lineup and it will be Updated every week!
1. Ellsbury CF
2. Pedroia 2B
3. Youkilis 3B
4. David Ortiz DH
5.Jayson Werth LF
6. JD Drew RF
7. Lyle Overbay/Lars Anderson 1B
8. Buck/saltalamacchia c
9. Marco Scutaro SS

Mat Latos: Why He Should be an All-Star

Every year the inevitable debate starts about the All-Star Rosters. Why is this guy here, and of course we all complain about the great all-star snubs. While most people point to Joey Votto being the biggest all-star snub(and rightfully so) I believe that Mat Latos being left of the roster is a glaring omission.

When you take a look at the Pitching Leaders of the National League, you will find young Mat Latos' name quite frequently. He is 8th in the NL with 2.62 ERA, his WHIP of 0.98 is tied for the NL with Cy Young front runner Josh Johnson. He anchors a Pitching staff who has the best ERA in all of baseball.

Obviously guys like Tim Lincecum are going to get the nod based upon reputation, but Latos has to crack this roster at some point. Would you like some more Latos stats since you're not convinced?

Opposing hitters are batting just .193 against Latos which is tops in the NL. He has 91 k's in 98 IP, and nearly threw a perfect game earlier in a game agasint the Giants. His 9 wins are tied for 4th in the NL.

Hopefully Charlie Manuel will do the right thing and get Mat on the roster, since they will need a replacement for young stud Yovani Gallardo. Mat does not deserve the snub.

Looking Back At the Santana Trade.

We All agree that Bill Smith Screwed up on that deal by taking the Mets Package of Prospects which most of the players became busts! the Main Part in that deal was CF Carlos Gomez (Traded to the Brewers for JJ Hardy) who was thought to be the Twins Future Lead off Hitter but later turned out to be a Bust. the twins also got in that Deal RHP Phil Humber (DFA & Signed with the royals) RHP Kevin Mulvey (Claimed by the Dbacks) & RHP Deolis Guerra (Twins Top 25 Prospect). The Twins Could picked the Redsox Package that had SP Jon Lester (one of the AL's Best Leftys next to CC) CF Coco Crisp (who was a Good Hitter in the AL Central and Great Center fielder) SS Jed Lowrie & RHP Justin Masterson. But 2 of the reasons the Deal that could of sent Santana to the Redsox and Lester to the twins Fell apart was the twins wanted both Lester and Ellsbury(instead of Crisp) & the Sox did not want to make a deadline!
Even tho The Twins are a Good team they still could of used Jon Lester in there Rotation with Francisco Liriano and could of been a nice 1-2 punch! But as of Now the Redsox are thank full that the twins did not pick there Package because Jon Lester right now is the 2nd best lefty in the AL and Johan Santana is starting decline a little but still is a good lefty.

Counting Down the Days Untill the 2010 MLB Trade Deadline! Part 1:A Look at Redsox needs for the Outfield!

With 39 days left until the 2010 MLB Trade Deadline the Redsox got 2 wholes and one of them is a Outfielder! here are 3 outfielders that the sox could be interested
.3 Garrett Jones OF/1B
with another Bad Year for The Pittsburgh Pirates Means another Fire sale for the Pirates. and this could mean Garret Jones Could be available for the right Price! Garrett Jones who hit 21 hr's Last year could be a nice fit for the Redsox lineup hitting behind Oritz,Youk and Vmart. but can he move to Left? right Now he is the Pirates Right Fielder and 1st Baseman but he has never faced the wall Known as the Green Monster. but still he would be a nice piece for the redsox lineup.
What are they Looking For?:major League Ready Outfielder / Pitching
what would i give up if i was the redsox?: If i was Theo i would Package Josh Reddick, a B+ Prospect Pitcher Stephen Fife or Kyle Weiland and a PTBNL.
.2 Adam Dunn LF/RF/1B
the Free Agent to be Adam Dunn is on fire! which means Nats could trade him for some value! the 6 foot 6 Left Handed hitter could add pop to the Redsox Lineup! hes Has 16 Homers this Season! How ever he is known for striking out alot and is so so at Left, thats Why hes a starting
1st baseman for the Nats. but he would be fine at left.
What are they looking for: 1st baseman / left Fielder / Pitching
what would i give up if i was the redsox?: here are deals i have planned! the 1st Deal is if i was theo i would package LF Daniel Nava, 1b Prospect Anthony Rizzo or Pitching Prospect Stolmy Pimentel and B+ Prospect SP Stephen Fife & SP Alex Wilson or c+ Prospect 1b Arron Bates for Adam Dunn.
my 2nd idea would be LF Daniel Nava, RP Manny Delcarmen, 1b Anthony Rizzo, B+ Prospect Stephen Fife and C+ Prospect Arron Bates for LF/1B Adam Dunn & RP Tyler Clippard
1. David DeJesús OF
here's a Player who is on a roll this season David DeJesús of the Royals! the Royal are shopping him this season and clubs are interested! Hes a perfect player for the redsox and hes just what they need! good Hitter and he plays all corners of the outfield! put him on the redsix lineup and he would be a spark plug for the redsox. hes also a good fielder! expect to see a bidding war for him!
what are they looking for?: major League Ready Outfielder and pitching
what would i give up if i was the redsox?: if i was Theo i would send Daniel Nava or Josh Reddick along with B Prospect SP Stephen Fife and Kyle Weiland or Alex Wilson.
whats likely to happen is look at back up outfielders or pact with what you got? but a trade has not been ruled out!

who would you rather have? Tim Lincecum or Jon Lester

That is the Question? Who do i rather have? Tim Lincecum or Jon Lester. But if i Had to choose one it would be Lester. no I'm not bias i just look at Lester as a Better pitcher then Lincecum! Yes Lincecum has 2 Cy Young's but he has not Pitched in the AL and the Toughest division in baseball known as The AL East which Lester Has! If you Put Lester in the NL chances are hes going to be lights out. Now if you put Lincecum in the AL chances are he will struggle but he will get out of it if he spent a year in the AL. His Stats vs the AL are Interesting hes 3-2 in 8 games with a 3.91 ERA vs the AL. and all 3 of those wins were against the Oakland A's. as for the other 4 AL clubs he struggled! LA Angels, Bluejays tigers and royals all Batted him around like a cat playing with a toy. But like i said if you put him in the AL for a year he will be fine! as for Lester his record vs NL is 5-1 with a 3.03 era. and one of those wins was against the almost AL like Philles! the Edge vs Inter league play goes to Letser.
not lets take a look at the career stats for both pitchers! there almost the same except for the era!

Tim Lincecums career stats W-L 45-19 ERA 2.94 k's 765 whip 1.155

Jon Lesters career stats W-L 49-18 /ERA 3.55 /K's 568/ Whip 1.308

in career stats the Edge goes to Lincecum

as for the big stage the only big stage that Lincecum pitched was the all star game and he struggled! Lester Pitched in the game 4 the clinching game of the 2007 world series! but after that he struggled in the postseason but the edge goes to Lester. but if Lincecum helps his giants and brings him to the postseason tinny could do pretty well! so i guess its hard to say who's better because both pitchers are 26 and still there careers are in the young stage! but once they go in to there prime age there going to be scary to face!

sox 2010 Draft Day2: Sox Yet Again Draft another Projected 1st rounder in the 2nd round Brandon Workman

here's is his scouting Report thanks to Over the Monster!

"Just like his last name would describe, Brandon Workman is big, tough and throws hard. He's a worker.
The 6'5" Righty has a four-seam fastball that can hit the mid-90s and a two-seamer that has some sink to it. His cutter is considered "plus," while he also adds an average curve and change to the mix. It's a pretty full repertoire for a starter, but also a nice little set list if he converts to being a reliever. Workman was a 3rd round pick back in 2007 for the Phillies.
Workman was quite effective this season and he wasn't even his team's best starter. In 99.2 innings, Workman allowed 94 hits, 23 walks and struck out 97. His ERA clocked in at 3.43 while opponents hit .248 against him.
The Sox love themselves strong, college pitchers. Last year they drafted Alex Wilson (Texas A&M, 2nd round) and Kendal Volz (Baylor, 9th), both of whom have already shown they're ready for a promotion. Workman could be the next college pitcher in the Sox system to slide in and start mowing down batters."
My Reaction on this pick:
i like this Alot like the! he is a work horse! and this give the sox a plan b if they cant sign Ranaudo. he was the 3rd best Pitcher on the long horns but The Longhorns Rotation is real Sick! another great pick by the sox and so far the run away winners of the draft!
My Grade on this Pick: A

SOX enter the 2010 Draft with a splash! Drafted Vitek, Brentz & Ranaudo

Well it may not be a popular Sports Draft but Like Coach Bill and the Pats , The Sox enter the Draft with a Splash! Like the 2010 Nfl Draft in the 1st round the sox could of Filled a need of a Catcher with the 2nd best Catcher the High school er Justin O'connor on the borad but when bud came up announced the redsox selection the Sox Drafted a position that we all ready have! 2ndBase! Sox Select Mac Player of the year 2nd baseman kolbrin vitek! even tho this was the surprise pick i like this move alot! a very good hitter and could be great for fenway! good news for Dustin, vitek will be playing 3rd base or outfield not 2nd Base! a very good Selection by the sox but a surprising pick! supplemental round was next and the sox had a pare of supplemental Picks, 36th overall and 39th overall! with the 36th Overall pick the Sox Selected the Very powerful Bryce Brentz, A left Fielder from Middle Tennessee State and could be the Power Bat that the sox are looking for in the future! Brentz was a projected 1st rounder! with the 39th and final pick of the Day the redsox Selected LSU Star Pitcher Anthony Ranaudo! another projected 1st rounder but injuries played a key factor this year and which makes him a health risk which is the main reason he slipped the 1st 32 picks! but it could turn to be the next Kris Johnson! A good College pitcher but injuries took his toll on him! but i think this is a solid Draft Pick!
my grade for the 1st 3 picks of the Draft: a Solid A! even tho we missed out on that catcher the sox added some good hitting prospects and if healthy a Lethal Arm!
here are the links of there scouting reports!

Sox Draft: 2nd Baseman kolbrin vitek

With the 2oth pick in the 2010 MLB Draft Redsox Select 2nd Baseman kolbrin vitek of Ball state

scouting Report

Kolbrin Vitek - 2B
Ball State, Jr.
Birthdate: 4/1/89
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 195 lbs.
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
Scout's report filed: 4/2-4/4/10

Scouting Report
Hitting ability: Vitek is one of the better pure hitters in the college ranks. He's very short to the ball with excellent bat speed. He's got a strong track record of hitting well everywhere he goes.
Power: There's definitely some power there, though there's some debate over just how much he'll show in the future.

Running speed: He's got well above-average speed. He runs a great 60, but it doesn't always play that well in games.

Base running: He's a very good base runner who is a base-stealing threat.
Arm strength: He has an average to solid-average arm.

Fielding: He's moved around a bit defensively. His hands and feet aren't great for second base. Perhaps a move to the outfield would be best.

Range: He doesn't move all that well in the infield, but he does have enough speed to handle an outfield position.

Physical Description: He's got a similar look, and playing style, to 2009 first-rounder A.J. Pollock.

Medical Update: Healthy.
Strengths: Excellent overall hitting skills, some power and speed. Also a pitcher with decent arm strength.

Weaknesses: No clear defensive home. Second base doesn't look to be a good fit, so perhaps the outfield. But does he have the power for a corner or the speed for center?

Summary:

Wherever Vitek has gone, he's hit. He plays at a smaller program, but in a year with a lack of premium bats at big programs, his production is getting noticed. His bat speed and mechanics should make him an excellent hitter at the next level. He's got power, though there's some debate how much there will be at the next level. He also runs pretty well. The main question with Vitek is where he'll play defensively, as his current home at second doesn't appear to be a great fit. He's athletic enough to play the outfield, and that might be the best bet. Wherever he plays, it's his bat that has people interested, and that's what will get him drafted in the first couple of rounds.
My Reaction to this pick:
a Little Surpised at the pick but its a Good Pick Overall! he looks like he could be Tailor Maid for Fenway in the future! plus he can play 2nd base/outfiled and maybe 3rd base a good pick for this team!
Grade: B+

The MLB Draft is Not your average Draft! & is Bryce Harper the Lebron of Baseball?

Ok usually its the best available Player gets drafted in the 1st round in Drafts but in the MLB Draft who ever has Scott Boras as his rep or had a bad work out/combine Chances are that player will slip down to the mid/end of the 1st or the Supplmentle Round/2nd round unless the Yankees, Red Sox or Mets had control of any of the top ten picks in the 1st round! Lets take a Look at some players who sliped in the draft! in the 2005 Draft Craig Hansen a Projected Top 10 pick and aslo Project to be the "Next" great Closer Viva Houston Street, Fell to the 26th overall Pick to the Redsox! the Reason he Fell teams did not wont to face Scott Boras and his demands for a huge player contract. Redsox Gave Craig a 4year 4 mill deal. the Redsox later rushed him to the majors in the same year where he was drafted! Where is Craig hansen now? he is fighting for a job in the pirates AAA team! then we take a look at the 06 darft! there were 2 Tar Heel Starters Andrew Miller and Daniel Bard! Miller Drafted 6th to the tigers even tho his agent was Boras! and Bard who had one of the best arms in that draft and projected to be a top 10-15 pick fell to the 28th slot to the redsox! who was better? Daniel Bard! he is now the sox top Set Up man and possible replacement for Paplebon if the sox fail to resign jonathan! as for Miller hes in the Marlins AAA team working out some bugs but dont rule him out as a bust just yet! Dont Get me wrong there are slips in Sports Darfts but after the 1st 2nd & 3rd Rounds theres a Drop off in most Drafts but in the Baseball Draft there is chance that your team could get Pretty good player out of the 50 rounds!

here are some names were drafted in the late rounds of the Mlb Draft!

Albert pujols was Drafted in the 13th round of the 1999 Draft (Right now is the best player in the majors)
John Smoltz was Drafted in 22nd round of the 1985 MLB Draft! (a Great Closer and Starter with the braves)
Mark Buehrle was Drafted in the 38th round of the 1998 draft (pitched a NO hitter and a Perfect game)
Mike Piazza was Drafted in the 62nd round of the 1988 draft (one of the Best Power Hitting Catchers in his prime)

Bryce Haper: the next big thing?

This years Projected #1 goes to washington! and the Player who is hands down #1 overall is Bryce Harper and oh yeah his agent is the Mighty Scott Boras! Bryce is not just another #1 hitting Prospect. Like Strasburg, Bryce projected to be the "Lebron James" of Baseball! Yeah I know Crazy but i guess if your a HS Senior/junior Collage Player hitting 502ft Bombs then i Guess your the next "Lebron James". Please!!! 502ft means nothing! Bryce Could be the best Power Hitting Prospect since ken griffey jr but being named the next Lebron James is Crazy! as for the Nats and his Agent this means another Holdout untill boras gets his man some Big Bank.

New england Sports Recap: SOX & ROX LOSE but Celtics Take game 2 of the Finals

Celtics 103, Lakers 94

A Sloppy Day for the New England Ball Clubs but in the End It was the Celtics that Ties the Series in 2 and shuts the Mouth of Pau Gasol! well KG was not the Hero of the game and was slopy for most part of the game but the Real Hero of the game was Ray Allen and he Shows us why hes one of the Leagues Better Scorers! In the game Ray Ray Collected 32 Pts in today's contest also Rondo had 19pts & 12Reb,PP had 10 pts and KG had 6pts as for the Lakers they had there big 3 going Pau Collected 25 pts and Both Kobe and Bynum had 21pts each.

now with the Series shifting to Boston for the next 3 games if the celtics really want to win banner 18 they really need to win 2 out of 3 in boston and if not and the lakers win 2 out of 3 were in trouble because there is no way & No How we Win both games 6&7 in LA! but miracles do happen just look at the flyers. but i think the c's got Lakers where they want them and finish the series in LA.

here are the Keys for the next 3 games for the celtics

1. Need to win at lest 2 out of 3 At home and bring the Series back to LA
2. find a way to Shut down Both Pau, kobe or Bynum
3. KG needs to get back on track and hold down pau
4. Ray Ray and rondo need to say hot!

now to Baseball

Markakis & the O's Sink the Sox in the 11th. O's 4 Sox 3

"Just in case you guys were wondering, I did not get any more gray today," a quote from a Happy Juan Samuel who's O's Finlay snap the Dreaded 10 game losing streak thanks to Nick Markakis Center Field gap shot off of Okie! today game was bad for the sox Bats even tho Vmart hit a 2 run shot! but the lead was later tied because lackey loaded the bases twice and was tied up by Izturis & Lugo's singles! after the 2nd inning Matusz and the o's Bullpen shut down the sox Bats through 8 but in the 9th Will Ohman gave up the save to Pedroia's Sac Fly tying the game 3-3. and we all know what happen in the end sox and o's goes to goes to extra innings and gives up the winning run to Nick Markakis's Single! lackey had a good game but not great and Manny Delcarmen leaves the game with stiffness! but the sox did show some life and i see them taking 2 of 3 vs the indians!

here are some scores around the AL East

Yankees beat the Blue Jays 4-3

Rays Smash the rangers 9-5

here are some scores for the Can AM league!
