Mat Latos: Why He Should be an All-Star

Every year the inevitable debate starts about the All-Star Rosters. Why is this guy here, and of course we all complain about the great all-star snubs. While most people point to Joey Votto being the biggest all-star snub(and rightfully so) I believe that Mat Latos being left of the roster is a glaring omission.

When you take a look at the Pitching Leaders of the National League, you will find young Mat Latos' name quite frequently. He is 8th in the NL with 2.62 ERA, his WHIP of 0.98 is tied for the NL with Cy Young front runner Josh Johnson. He anchors a Pitching staff who has the best ERA in all of baseball.

Obviously guys like Tim Lincecum are going to get the nod based upon reputation, but Latos has to crack this roster at some point. Would you like some more Latos stats since you're not convinced?

Opposing hitters are batting just .193 against Latos which is tops in the NL. He has 91 k's in 98 IP, and nearly threw a perfect game earlier in a game agasint the Giants. His 9 wins are tied for 4th in the NL.

Hopefully Charlie Manuel will do the right thing and get Mat on the roster, since they will need a replacement for young stud Yovani Gallardo. Mat does not deserve the snub.
